The ECB’s glass office tower in Frankfurt’s Ostend is a prominent feature in the city’s skyline. You can take a guided tour to see up close where the custodians of the euro work. The 90-minute walking tour includes the renovated and historically listed Grossmarkthalle, the conference area with a selection of exhibits from the ECB’s art collection, as well as the (roughly) 185-metre high twin towers.
The building was designed by the Viennese architect Wolf D. Prix and his firm COOP HIMMELB(L)AU. During the tour, you will learn interesting facts about the construction, energy efficiency and sustainability of the premises. The literal high point of the tour is a lift ride up to the interchange platform on the 27th floor, where the two towers join. Here, you can experience a breathtaking view of Frankfurt and the surrounding area.Photos: ECB
